Looking for a simple explanation for that specific legal concept you were confused about?
(try: “mortgage”, “negligence”, “constitutionalism”)
(If I haven’t made any content about the concept you were looking for, and you’d like me to consider doing so, please feel free to drop me a message in the “Ask Me Law Stuff” tab! Also, just something to say in advance if you decide to do that: I really am humbled that you’d support my style enough to make a request to me specifically.)
Because I believe that the law is best explained using visuals.
Comics, videos, animations, and everything in between.
My journey began with drawing diagrams on the board in my law school tutorials, following which I begun drawing comics explaining some of the more complex legal concepts on my Instagram page. A year in, I begun doing whiteboard videos on YouTube, and I further simplified my comics to single-frame illustrations. Most recently, I’ve had the utmost privilege of working with Associate Professor Burton Ong from the National University of Singapore, Faculty of Law, to create a whole suite of videos for the Contract Law syllabus.
I’m always thinking about how to explain legal concepts simply, and you can expect updates whenever one of those ideas comes into fruition. But my mission has remained the same throughout the years: I want to make law simple and accessible to all, especially for those who might not have the privilege of going through legal training.
